A Change of Plans, a Beautiful Trail: Two Days on the Chuo Bunsuirei Trail

In late October, I spent two days hiking the Chuo Bunsuirei Trail in Nagano with two guests from Germany.

We had planned to visit another mountain, but bad weather made us change our plans. We chose this trail instead—and it became a wonderful mountain trip.

The ridge walk was a highlight. Walking with open views all around us felt so good. Although this trail was our second choice, it deserves a trip of its own.

The section we walked had relatively few difficult or exposed spots. It can be a good choice for people who are new to hiking, as long as they have the fitness to walk about 10 km each day.

I took photos along the way and made a 3D map video of our route. Together, they show both the views we enjoyed and the ground we covered over the two days.

If you would like to walk this trail or explore the mountains of Japan, please feel free to get in touch. Tell me about your hiking experience, fitness, and interests, and we can plan a trip together.

And a message for my two guests:
